Hundreds of millstones, in various stages
completion, were abandoned when the market for them dried up in the late 1800s.
This stone tells a story.
It was well on the way to
completion after many weeks of work with hand tools...........
..........when, it appears, a large lump of stone broke off, making
it useless.
One can only imagine how blue the air was!
